SUN vs Speechify: hear it explained, not only read

Speechify reads your text to you, word for word. SUN explains it: attach a chapter or paste your notes, and two hosts walk you through it at the length you set. Your first one is free, and after that you can pay as you go.

Miracle of Love: Turning Stories of Neem Karoli Baba Into a Podcast

Podcast, two-host, made from a book

Okay, so I've been sitting with this book all week, and I keep hitting the same wall. A guru who died in 1973, and people still say they get something from him. Like, actually get something.

Right, and that wall is exactly where this book starts. Ram Dass opens Miracle of Love with that very problem. Neem Karoli Baba, Maharajji, left his body on September eleventh, nineteen seventy-three.

So the obvious assumption is, once the teacher is gone, the teaching is gone. That's the picture most people hold, right? You had to be there.

Read aloud, or explained

Speechify is built to read. It highlights each word as it goes, plays at up to 5x on Premium, scans a printed page, and runs in Chrome and Edge as well as on Mac, Windows, iOS and Android. For a text you have to get through word for word, it does that well.

A 40-page chapter read aloud is still 40 pages, at any speed. SUN builds an episode around it instead: an order that builds, an example where the idea turns abstract, a second host who asks the question you were about to ask. Say what you already know and it is pitched there. For a whole module, choose Audio Course and the material comes as lessons that build on each other: turn notes into a podcast.

Read aloud when you want it

Choose Audiobook and SUN narrates your PDF or text in chapters, in one of its narrators' voices or your own: PDF to audiobook. For something shorter, an article, an essay, a script, paste it and listen: AI text to speech.

What you pay

Speechify Premium is $29 a month, less billed yearly. Its free plan reads with 10 voices at up to 1.5x and leaves out its AI podcasts. On SUN your first creation is free, and after that you choose Premium, monthly or yearly, or pay as you go: audio uses credits by its length and the credits never expire, so a few episodes a month cost only those episodes. Common questions

Does Speechify make podcasts too?

Yes, on Premium, from a document or a short description. SUN's are made for learning: you set the length in minutes, choose one host or two, and a subject can become a course.

Can SUN use my PDFs and notes?

Yes. Attach PDFs, documents, slides, notes or images, several at once if you like, or paste your text into the composer.

Can I listen on my phone?

Yes. The SUN app on iOS and Android uses the same account and picks up where you left off on any device.

From a topic instead of a file, SUN's AI podcast generator. Other tools: NotebookLM alternative, ElevenLabs alternative.
